If you can tell a story, and you can make the characters in that story look good, you’ve created a successful photograph. Simple, in a nutshell, but it requires the ability to bond with and understand your clients, and to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera so they can feel free to truly be themselves during a shoot. When you can do this, you are able to capture real expressions and emotions, and create images that will be cherished forever. Now, each session, or shoot does not need to have a clear story with a beginning, middle and end like a book or a movie. Rather, each session or shoot is a part of your story. Are you here today in this beautiful location with your partner and kids because you want to forever remember this sweet time period in your lives? Is today your wedding day, one of the biggest days of your life, where both the big moments and the quiet glances all hold incredible value? Are you starting a business, or updating your headshot to show your market that you are the confident, successful business person that you are, or maybe, are working hard to become…? In 15 plus years working as a photographer I have found that connecting with human beings is the number one skill one must possess to be successful. Being skillful with a camera is a close second, of course… Being able to see and capture light beautifully helps, and a million other things… But most importantly, I want to learn about you, where you are in your story, and how I can craft amazing imagery that you will fall in love with at first sight, and hold close for the rest of your life.
